Students
in British Columbia Canada Will NOT
BE SILENT.
We
wiill be wearting BLUE to show we
are united on June 1st
Will you wear BLUE and will YOU take
action with us on June 1st?
Vancouver
& BC students are taking ACTION
on June 1st 2010.
Our voice should be heard; we are
the future generations of BC, Canada.
We want to be heard in VANCOUVER and
we are inviting all teachers, parents
and the Vancouver School Board to
support us on June 1st.
Will
MEDIA support us on June 1st?
Will the VANCOUVER MAYOR support us
on June 1st?
Will the BC GOVERNMENT listen to what
we have to say on June 1st?
They
(the government & politicians)
SPEAK about future generations.
Our education is being compromised.
WHY is the VSB being forced cut costs??
This is the big question we are asking.
We are not willing to keep silent
anymore.
It is our future and we have the right
to know, and we have the right to
learn.
WHY:
The BC government believes that it’s
fine to take away $18.6 million dollars
from public school funding. I, along
with parents, teachers, change-agents
and other students beg to differ.
The VSB is being forced to cut down
on Music programs, Arts, ESL Classes
and Special Needs. We believe it is
a disgrace and an insult to students
everywhere who will soon have to attend
schools with NO music, NO arts, NO
ESL or special needs. We always hear
that education is important. If this
is true, why is the BC government
taking away so much money from our
& your educational needs, and
thus limiting our future potential?
The time has come. I /we are calling
on all students to make ourselves
heard.
Even if you're graduating, think about
your younger brothers and sisters.
Think about the children with special
needs who won’t have the necessary
resources to flourish. Most importantly,
think about our future. The time is
NOW. We have to be heard, we are the
future generation of British Columbia,
Canada.
-
The BC government pays for 50% of
the funding for private schools.
-
Class A Private Schools get up to
$1.8 million dollars a year from the
BC government, yet they're taking
away $18.7 million dollars from our
education.
-
ESL, Special Needs, Music, Arts ...
all these classes will have less funding.
These
are all matters that need to be addressed.
Our parents have been fighting for
our education. Let us show the BC
Government that we are the future
and we will not sit by silently and
watch our schools, teachers &
students be compromised. We will not
watch our schools be ignored and go
downhill.
